Raena Lim demonstrated her problem solving skills when she set forth on her entrepreneurial journey, and build a fashion rental platform to solve a problem faced by many on a daily — having nothing to wear. Raena Lim founded Style Theory, Southeast Asia’s largest circular fashion rental platform carrying more than 50K high-quality designer apparel and 3K designer bags for its growing base of over 200K users, and allowing subscribers to loan unlimited number of items for a flat monthly fee. Her solution of building a sharing economy has helped to tackle the buy-and-throw culture as in just a few years, over 2.3 million rentals across Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong were facilitated, and the brand managed to save more than 600K preloved designer wear from prematurely entering the landfills. Not only has Style Theory helped to redress sustainability issues, it has also enabled women to monetise items in their wardrobes by consigning them for rental to other women through the platform. As quoted by her, “be brave and resilient in building the future you want to live in”, and Style Theory is a living testament to her statement.
