Secret Life of Trees is a brand made by Liew Yu Hua, and is dedicated to producing beautiful, thoughtful handcrafted wooden furniture. The designer-maker finds motivation and contentment in the ensuing fulfillment of watching individuals interact with her completed works, as well as the deep grounding she experiences when she trusts her own hands to produce what she envisions.

As a woodworker, Yu Hua believes that it is important to “own every step of your chosen path”. To her, success is defined as creating work that communicates ideas which addresses essential questions of who we are and how we should live. A piece of advice she has for aspiring creators is to “plan for failure and rejection, and build a system accounting for contingencies at every step.”
