Founder, Making Meaning

Danielle Ng

Danielle Ng is the founder of Making Meaning, a ground-up community initiative that supports creatives who want to do meaningful work. Making Meaning started during the COVID-19 Circuit Breaker period, when Danielle realised the lack of skill-based volunteering opportunities available for creatives, thus birthing this initiative for many to volunteer and give back to society from their homes. The initiative helps to connect creative volunteers with over 100 non-profit organisations, as it hopes to empower people to consciously think about the value of designing for good. She also had the opportunity to share about the initiative to creative tertiary students from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media, as well as industry mates through DesignSingapore Council and Don’t Mind If. Making Meaning also creates thoughtful content to encourage and normalise healthy work practices in the creative field, and spotlight designers who are doing impactful work, regardless big or small.

“No matter how fast you're trying to grow, how big you want to scale or how much money you hope to make, never forget the people at the heart of your business - your employees and the people you're designing and creating for” is a piece of advice Danielle has for all aspiring entrepreneurs and creatives.
