Derived from the word “Cosmos” – a system of thought, Kausmo is a F&B business based on the concept of thoughtfulness, and is led by Kuah Chew Shian and Lisa Tang. At Kausmo, the duo aspires to spark conversations about thoughtful and conscientious ways of living, and challenge food norms that bring about unnecessary food wastage. They utilise aesthetically-filtered fruits and vegetables that are overstocked, overripe or oddly shaped based on retailers’ specifications. They work with a variety of local and regional farmers to reduce food miles and bring forgotten edible native greens and florals to their plates.

They also procure responsibly farmed protein, champion underrated cuts of meat, and utilise seafood from small farming communities in regional waters.

Listed in Forbes 30 under 30 Asia 2020, the duo seeks to support local communities across various industries through Kausmo. They are inspired by Silo, a zero waste restaurant in London, and hope to work with a greater variety of sustainable food companies, from farms with agroforestry practices to lab-grown meat companies.

The duo believes that nobody is ever ready or prepared enough to start a business — if there is something you truly believe in, then go for it!
